What is IIMC Entrance Exam?

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) conducts the IIMC Entrance Exam, which is a computer-based test and is conducted on behalf of the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam consists of MCQs and objective type questions. Students who clear the IIMC entrance exam have to appear for Personal Interview (PI) and those who clear both these rounds are admitted to various courses offered at IIMC.

IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 Application Process

Only Indian nationals are allowed to appear for IIMC Entrance Exam. However, five additional seats are available in each course for NRI / NRI- sponsored candidates. The IIMC Entrance Exam application process is as follows:

Step 1: Fill IIMC Entrance Exam Application Form

Candidates can fill the application form for IIMC Entrance Exam via online mode on the official website of IIMC. The Applicant is required to fill only one form, indicating all his/her course choices, making combined/cumulative payment of application fee.

Step 2: Pay the application fee

Candidates can pay the below mentioned application fee.

Note: Depending on the number of courses that one is applying for, a commensurate amount of application fee should be paid through the payment gateway. 

Step 3: Download IIMC Entrance Exam Admit Card

Aspirants can download their IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 admit card from the official website of the college. Candidates need to note that they will not be allowed to enter their examination hall if they are not carrying their valid admit card that has been issued by the college. Candidates will have to login in order to avail the admit card.

Step 4: Appear for the IIMC Entrance Exam

IIMC exam is held at an all-India level. IIMC written test is of two hours duration and there is no standardised pattern for the exam. Candidates are advised to check the exam pattern, syllabus and marking scheme before appearing for the entrance exam. The IIMC Entrance Exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). 

Step 5: Declaration of Entrance Exam Results

The results for IIMC entrance exams for Journalism, TV & Radio Journalism as well as Advertising and Public Relations courses will only be declared on the official website. Candidates can check their results using their registered email ID/roll number and their date of birth. The IIMC entrance exam 2022 result will be declared once the entrance exam has been conducted.

 

IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 is such that only Indian nationals are allowed to take the IIMC entrance test for admission in PG Diploma courses. As per IIMC Entrance Exam eligibility criteria, only those candidates can apply for this entrance exam who possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from the recognized university. Apart from this, aspirants who have appeared or who are appearing for a degree exam can also apply for IIMC Entrance Exam.

Age Limit: Candidates are eligible to appear for IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 as per the below-mentioned requirements:

  • General Category: Aspirants born on August 1, 1996 or later are eligible to apply.
  • SC/ST/Differently abled: Aspirants born on August 1, 1991, or later are eligible to apply.
  • OBC Category: Aspirants born on August 1, 1993, or later are eligible to apply.

 

IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to Indian Institute of Mass Communication have to follow the process as under:

Step 1: After qualifying IIMC Entrance Exam appear for Group Discussion/Interview

Candidates who qualify for the written test, are called for an interview/group discussion round. Aspirants who apply for admissions to fill NRI/NRI sponsored seats do not have to appear for written examination but they have to appear for and clear the Group Discussion or Interview round, or both.

Step 2: Check IIMC Entrance Exam Result

A merit list of candidates to be provisionally admitted to each course and at each campus will be prepared on the basis of the category-wise merit list as per course/seat allocation criteria. The allocation of the Campus (applicable to English Journalism) will be on the basis of Merit-cum-Preference.

Step 3: Pay the admission fee

Successful candidates are given maximum seven days’ time to secure their admission by depositing the prescribed fees online alongwith the necessary documents. Candidates claiming reservation under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) scheme should produce the Income & Asset Certificate issued by a designated authority in the prescribed format. 

Note: Reservation of seats will be as per Government of India orders/rules for SC, ST, OBC, Differently-abled and EWS.

 

IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 Syllabus

IIMC Entrance Exam 2022 Pattern

There will be two separate Entrance Exams in two separate sittings on the same day. One for 4 courses other than regional language journalism, i.e., for PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism, PG Diploma in English Journalism, PG Diploma in Public Relations & Advertising and PG Diploma in Radio & Television. Another will be for Regional Language Journalism courses (Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Urdu). Each Test will be of Two Hours (120 minutes) duration comprising 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) on General Knowledge & General Aptitude including a few general questions from the field of Media & Communication carrying 100 marks.
